DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES UNDER RUSA

Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013, aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions, fostering the needs of the colleges affiliated to different universities but deprived of the benefits of the UGC, because of their non-inclusion in 2(f) & 12 (b) sections of UGC Act. The pre-condition to provide such assistance is NAAC accreditation. The assistance provided to colleges comprises of 60% of fund from central government and 40% from the state government.

Brajrajnagar College is included under 2(f) & 12 (b) sections of UGC Act and having completed the second cycle of NAAC accreditation (First accreditation in 2005 and 2nd accreditation in 2015). The college has received an allocated assistance of Rs. 2.00 Crores, out of which, Rs. 50.00 Lakhs has been released as the first phase assistance and the said amount has been deposited  in the official account of the Executive engineer (R&B), Jharsuguda for the civil construction of a Ladies Hostel in the College campus. The execution of civil works has already been started.

Out of the total assistance of Rs. 2.00 Crores, Rs. 70.00 Lakhs will be spent towards the creation of new facilities; Rs. 70.00 Lakhs will be spent for renovation works and the rest Rs. 60.00 Lakhs will be spent for purchase of equipments, books and journals.

All the decision taken for such developmental activities was taken by Board of Governors and the Project Monitoring Unit functioning under RUSA Coordinator, Brajrajnagar College, Brajrajnagar. From the inception of RUSA Dr. Sachidananda Boxi, Reader in Economics of the college acted as the Coordinator. However, from February 1, 2017, Shri Biswajit Khamari Reader in English has taken the charge of RUSA Coordinator of the college as Dr. Boxi assumed the office of the Principal of the college.

The coordinator, Board of Governors and the PMU is dedicated to the infrastructural and academic development of the college by making the best use of RUSA assistance.
