The college aims to provide inclusive learner-centric education developing leadership and entrepreneurial spirit for productive and creative careers, offers opportunities for momentous lives and responsible citizenship. The college was established way back in the year of 1978-79 with Arts and Commerce streams with an aim of providing quality education with a dedicated team of experienced faculty members to nurture the hidden talents among the students. The Science stream was opened in the session 1991-92 to develop a scientific temper among the students. It received grade “C++” in the year 2005, grade “B” in 2015 and grade”B” in 2023 in the third cycle visit of NAAC.
Today, the institution looks vibrant and radiant being funded by RUSA, World-Bank funded OHEPEE scheme and infrastructural assistance of Higher Education Deptt., Govt. of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. The college looks attractive with the newly constructed 30 seated Ladies Hostel(estimated cost 70 Lakhs) and a renovated building(estimated cost 70 Lakhs) funded by RUSA and a proposed construction of four(04) science laboratories and one(01) IT Lab with an estimated cost of 1.51 Crores funded by World Bank OHEPEE Scheme. Further, to meet the infrastructural need of the college, an infrastructural assistance of 25 lakhs has been sanctioned for the construction of a Library Building. The institution has also availed grants to equip the Science Laboratories, Library etc.
But, even today there are many challenges to meet. The college sincerely prepares to provide a conducive academic ambience to achieve excellence in result and a student friendly atmosphere for their holistic development. Further, with the completion of the tenure of the Second Cycle Assessment in 2020 the institution needs to go for third cycle assessment by NAAC.
True, the college has been able to fulfill many of its dreams. However, it has a long way to go. Possibly with the active support of the staff, students, alumni, guardians in particular and the people of Brajrajnagar locality in general, we shall succeed in bringing laurels to this growing institution.
